“This here is Dr. Isaac Williams.” Miss Jane proudly stated. “He was down the street visiting sister Wills for a short while.” Miss Jane became sad. “Sister Wills just got out of the hospital. She is having some kidney problems. She is going on kidney dialysis, and you know them children of hers ain't no good-not a one of 'em. I tell you they are sorry. She can't depend on 'em for nothing. You'd think with all them children she got, she could at least depend on one of 'em.” Miss Jane shook her head from left to right. “What is this world comin' to? Out of all them children she got, she ain't got one to take her a plate a food. And she on her sick bed too. I just wrapped her up a warm plate and took it down there to her. She has a lot on her mind. God bless her.” Then Miss Jane looked up at me. She smiled briefly.
